What causes narrow minded-ness?

Lack of experience and knowledge. We all live in our own prism. We only know our own reality, so if we've never seen something or heard something.. if we've never read about it, we're going to believe it really doesn't exist. Thus, the cause of narrow-mindedness and uneducated criticism.
